Comprehensive Legislative Research (Federal Services)
GalleryWatch offers searching capabilities on: full bill text, amendments, hearing testimony, committee agendas, the Congressional Record, and Member votes. Types of searches available on the federal level include:
- Search by various criteria: Congress, Subject Area, Committee, Sponsor, and Date Range
- Search full text of bills as well as bill captions
- Search for legislation by legislative actions. For example, find all bills sent to the President during the 108th Congress, or all bills that passed the House or Senate during a particular Congress
- Search by thesaurus. Enter a word and select "thesaurus" to locate bills containing similar words
- Search by boolean and proximity methods. For example, search for instances of "Oil" and/or "Gas" in the full text of bills and specify the number of characters between the words
- Run detailed searches. For example, you can find all Senate Resolutions by Sen. Phil Gramm from the 106th Congress that passed out of the Senate Commerce Committee between 2/1/99 and 6/15/99 and that are related to small business development
- Automated searches. Automatically run a scheduled search each morning and the system will automatically e-mail you the results of the search
- E-mail legislative information directly from the system to associates, Members, and clients personalized with your comments

With the Texas services, searches include full bill text, amendments, votes, and news. Types of searches include:
- Search by various criteria: Session, Subject Area, Committee, Author, Date Range, and Action
- Search full text of bills as well as bill captions
- Search for legislation by legislative actions. For example, find all bills sent to the Governor during the 78th Session, or all bills that passed the House or Senate during a particular Session
- Search by thesaurus. Enter a word and select "thesaurus" to locate bills containing similar words
